Trying to raise my family and having a hobby of writing songs and wanting them typed and recorded was “kinda” expensive. Additional expense on top of money is a lack of sleep from waking in the middle of the night to write or type. Paying for recordings that were fun but costly and late night early morning laundry, cooking, cleaning…you know the normal stuff of raising a family. Well one day it got to me and I felt overwhelmed. I was at a low point and walked through a Deseret Book store to see if I could get an uplift. I saw a new book of President Gordon B. Hinkley’s on the shelf, just off the press and his smile and the words to the title of his book, lifted me. I bought the book and went home to write another song, “Go Forward With Faith.” His book was full of faithful stories too.
This song was sung at my Sons’ Eagle Scout Court of Honor. Every step of life requires our faith because we can’t always see what is ahead. God provides us with what we need to get through each step of the way but we can’t always see where to put our foot. It is my testimony if we ask for help, He will always answer our prayers and show us one step of the way forward. Go forward, with faith!
