Hymn Of Zion

I was once asked to think on my relationship with God and I was told that what I would see in my minds eye would be a geographical shape. I immediately saw in my minds eye a triangle with a circle in the middle of it. I didn’t understand it. When I thought back on the experience and those two geographical symbols that came to me, I decided to discover what that was all about. So, one day I sat down with paper and pencil and began to doodle a triangle and circle. The circle became an eye and the triangle around it had light bars shinning out. I drew The All Seeing Eye of God! I realized that it meant something deeply important to my inner self. I have thought a lot on that impression and my experience. I knew I had seen a symbol like it before in a House of God and I recognized it was also on the American dollar bill. I kept thinking on it and one special day, this picture I drew became a hymn I wrote down. It is now the dream of my heart!

Hymn of Zion is clearly one of my favorite hymns. It describes three views of Zion. The view ahead of us with all of our descendant’s. The view behind us with all of our ancestors. And the view of our future as we rise to meet our Savior, Jesus Christ. I hope we all see eye to eye, having one heart, one mind in Zion, All-Seeing-Eye to eye.
